On 5 & 10 day
courses we are able to offer all candidates a portfolio of
evidence. This will include your certificate of competence
which is signed and dated by your instructor and proves you
have been trained by a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen,
all training and materials, a level one assessment portfolio
which incorporates NVQ modules relevant to health & safety
issues, course module handouts and a portfolio of pictures
that are taken whilst you are completing your course. This
portfolio is necessary to show prospective new employers or
if you wish to work on building sites. (N.B this information
applies to all Portfolio of Evidence courses).

Plastering is seen by many as one of the
most difficult skills to master.
Plasterers are in constant demand and therefore command some
of the best rates of pay within the construction industry.
With our proven teaching techniques and many tips of the trade
you will gain the knowledge and be more confident to tackle
everyday plastering situations.
You
will work in a purpose built bay with external and internal
angles and a window opening. The course modules will include:
- Preparation of walls and ceilings.
- Application of backing coats, including
bonding and browning.
- Fixing plasterboards to walls and ceilings
- Application and fixing of various angle
beads and stop beads
- Application of finishing plasters and
skims to a professional finish on walls, Ceilings, internal
and external corners and windows.
- Correct methods of patch and repair to
existing walls.
- P.V.A treatments and tips of the trade
These above modules are covered on our 5 day courses with
a scaled down skimming version available on our 2 day weekend
course for D.I.Y purposes.
A 10 day plastering course is available with the 2nd week
emphasising on plastering a 6ft x 16ft bay to increase every
candidates speed, but still keeping a professional finish.
This extra week is a foundation to build a progressive route
into becoming a professional plasterer.
