
5 Day Monday to Friday Domestic Central Heating
After completing our
5 day plumbing course this would be your next step. You will
be shown how
to complete all tasks on a domestic central heating system
on a fully operational gas combi-boiler and an
electric boiler.
Course Modules
- Demonstration and uses of plumbing tools
and materials
- Complete a box module incorporating copper
pipe bending using compression Joints.
- Complete capillary joints, use end feed
with leaded and unleaded solder.
- Install radiators with radiator valves
to both lock shield and thermostatic radiator valve types.
- Install domestic circulating pump with
isolation valves.
- Install two pipe system to a fully operational
combi boiler and electric boiler.
- Clean and flushing maintenance of the
central heating system.
- Identify central heating system controls.

1 Day Part L Qualification (Domestic Central Heating)
Approved
by CORGI, the Energy Savings Trust and the Heating and Hot
Water Information Council, the Logic energy efficiency certification
qualification has been developed in order to offer an easily
administered alternative to the City & Guilds 6084 Energy
Efficiency course.
This course is aimed at Heating Engineers,
Gas Fitters and Plumbers plus associated trades who are involved
in designing, specification, installation and maintenance
of gas boilers, heating controls and hot water systems.
Upon completion of the course the candidate will have an understanding
of:
- Building Regulation Part L and associated
legislation.
- Central Heating Specification contained
in Part L
- Boiler sizing and whole house boiler
sizing method for houses and flats.
- Importance of SEDBUK when choosing a
new boiler.
- Principals of condensing boiler.
- Minimum standards for the installation
or replacement of hot water cylinders.
This one day exam consists of a detailed training session
which includes the issue of a comprehensive set of documentation
to all candidates, this is followed by a 30 question multi-
choice open book assessment. Candidates will be informed on
the assessment recommendation before leaving the centre.
All candidates will recieve a course work
pack approx 2 weeks before the assessment date, in order for
them to complete the self learning modules and become familiar
with the course content. The morning and early afternoon session
will consist of a formal tutorial and review of the work pack.
The later part of the afternoon session will consist of the
written assessment paper. Passing the course exam will result
in the candidate achieving a Logic national Energy Efficiency
qualification.
